October 13, 2026: Balance First Rent Collection + Credit Card Surcharging for Rent

More rent collection upgrades for our Vendor Mall folks! You can now pull rent from vendor sales first and fall back to a card only when needed. Credit card surcharging (MSP) is also now supported on rent invoices. Check out the full rundown below.

Balance First, Credit Card Fallback

Tired of chasing down past-due rent? This one’s for you. With Balance First, Credit Card Fallback, rent is collected from the vendor’s account balance first, and their credit card on file is charged only for whatever is still owed. Fewer manual collections and less time spent tracking down payments.

This setting is available on the Vendor Mall Plus plan and is set at the location level, so it applies to every vendor at that location.

Credit Card Surcharging on Rent Collection

If your location has Merchant Surcharge Program (MSP) enabled, the surcharge now appears on rent invoices as its own line item labeled Credit Card Surcharge, so vendors can see exactly what they’re paying.

New: Card on File Agreement

Vendors will now see a card on file agreement in Consignor Access → Manage payments, and they’ll need to agree to it before they can add or manage their cards.

  • Vendors who already have a card on file will see the agreement the next time they open Manage payments.

  • New vendors will see it before entering a card for the first time.

Heads up: All vendors need to agree, even if your location doesn’t have MSP turned on. That way you’re all set if you decide to enable it later, with no extra steps for your vendors.
